Pretty in Pink/Peach/Salmon?

You know the colour I’m referring to right? It’s hard to miss and can be seen absolutely everywhere from the catwalks of Chanel to the rails of River Island. Miss Selfridge call it nude and Dorothy Perkins call it blush but each to their own, I call it salmon. (This individual opinion led to an awkward encounter when I went to pick up a dress I had on reserve a few weeks back, “Yeah, you know the one with the black? The salmon one..?”Cue embarrassment.)

How To Wear

As the fashionistas of Hollywood have demonstrated, it is indeed possible to wear this colour head to toe but for us mere mortals I suggest we stick to simple pieces. Wear it with denim, wear it with grey but whatever you do, wear it with style. Nothing screams Fashion Wannabe more than a mismatched ensemble of the current trend from every high street store. The key to getting this look right is to stick to your signature style (for those of you that have one) and just be creative, it’s even enough to add pumps to your outfit like this pair from New Look or if you feel like spoiling yourself, go all out with these beautiful Sam Edelman courts.

Another look that really works is to take a floral printed dress – really not hard to find, and cover up with a cardigan/jacket of this infamous colour. Here I’d like to insert thanks to my sister off whom I ‘borrowed’ my salmon cardigan.. If prints don’t work for you, denim is a simple alternative. We all know that denim goes with everything so grab your shorts and vests or your jeans and jumpers, insert desired accessory and voila, Bob’s your uncle!

When to Wear

This trend definitely has the flexibility factor which is something that every buyer craves. Due to the neutral yet subtle beauty of the colour, it can be worn with pretty much anything at any time of the day. Try a chiffon skirt for brunch, move on to a cute top for mid-afternoon shopping and end the day with a night on the tiles in a delicate, chiffon dress. As you can tell, it’s really not that difficult to incorporate this multi-faceted colour into your wardrobe and with the days getting longer and the nights getting brighter it’s set to be a winner as we head on in to summer!

I agree I dont think anyone can pull off salmon head to toe it looks ridiculous, if ur pale you look washed out and if ur tan u clash, its a no win situation. But salmon accessories are so cute and keep u up to trend without breaking the bank or looking the fool :)

I love this colour teamed with light brown/tan leather accessories ie belt/bag or chunky wooden jewellry, and also love those little ankle boots we all favoured this summer teamed with bare legs and a pink/peach/salmon (!!!) floaty or chiffon dress!
