How do you change your profile image (avatar)?
Sign up for free with www.gravatar.com and choose exactly the same e-mail address you used to register on Outfitlandia. Our website will match it and display your avatar accordingly. Voila!
How do you change your password?
The password we generated for you upon registration is very secure, but hard to remember. You can always logon and go to “Edit Profile” to choose a different one. To protect your identity we recommend you use a password at least eight characters long that includes numbers and symbols besides upper and lower case letters.
Why do you need to enter your Twitter account details?
Twitter is increasingly popular and an excellent way to announce your friends when uploading a new photo. The way it works on Outfitlandia, our website needs to “know” your username and password in order to publish new entries in your timeline. This limitation comes from Twitter and we are doing everything possible to protect your password online. If you are not comfortable with it, feel free to leave those fields empty – we will use @outfitlandia to announce all submissions anyway.
What are galleries?
When a user creates a profile and uploads pictures, we automatically create a “gallery” where you can see all submissions from the same person. You can return anytime to add, edit or remove pictures from your gallery. This is also the place where you can see all comments and votes received in various contests from a single page.
What categories can you submit your photos to?
When uploading a picture you can select to submit it to an open contest according to its theme or simply add it to your profile for others to give you their feedback – for this simply select “Open Submissions” from the dropdown menu.
What are tags?
For each picture you can enter descriptive keywords to make it easy searchable. Maybe you could tag a photo of your evening outfit with “special occasion dress” or the chosen designer like “Vera Wang”.
How do contests work?
Outfitlandia would not be complete without our outfit contests. Once we decide on a theme and a prize, the contest is open for submissions. You must create an account and submit a picture with your chosen outfit – then it is up to our visitors to vote for their favourites and select the winner. A panel must validate the votes and the submission prior to awarding the prize though.
What prizes can you win?
Each competition has its own character and the prizes match the profile of the website. Expect high-quality jewellery, fragrances, designer items or exclusive access to special events.
Do you have to pay anything to enter in the possession of a prize?
No. Outfilandia strives to make participation to contests absolutely free. You do not have to worry about anything – no registration fee, no special phone numbers to call, no shipping and handling fees. We will not sell or share your private details or preferences with any third parties either.
Can you vote for your own submissions?
Yes. With this said, only one vote / IP / computer is allowed. We will do our best to keep it fair-play. Anyone trying to cheat will be banned. There are easier ways to gather votes, as you will probably discover very quickly.
Can you tell your friends to vote for you?
As much as we like to think that all your friends will soon have their own profile on Outfitlandia, there might still be a few willing to vote for your outfit and help you win the prize. And we give you all the means to let them know about it – from the ShareThis button which allows you to post the entry on MySpace or Facebook to announcing all your Twitter followers automatically and featuring “Recent Comments” on the homepage. Digg and other social bookmarking websites are also good ways to invite friends to your gallery.
What happens when you change the category for a photo?
You can change the category a picture belongs to and by doing so submit it to a different contest. All votes already received will be lost in the process. For the same reason you cannot vote on Open Submissions entries – they are available for comments only.
Can you “undo” a category change and regain the lost votes?
No. Think hard before moving a photo from an open contest. We cannot give you back the votes once you do it if you changed your mind.
You received an unpleasant comment on one of your pictures. What should you do?
Just like people, there are comments and comments. If it is only healthy debate or a blunt opinion, maybe you should cope with it. Stand behind your outfit choices – they represent you. Or accept the feedback and acknowledge it accordingly. If none of these applies, contact us with the link to the comment and we will see about it. Do not assume that if we are not reviewing all comments prior to approval we don’t care.
Are there any restrictions on the size of photos that can be uploaded on the website?
Yes, we recommend photos should not be over 2MB in size. You can find out more about image resizing here.
You have a question we did not answer here. What next?
Please use the contact form and let us know. We will answer in max 2 days and probably add it here for the benefit of other visitors too.
